Short Bio Rice4all
Rice4all is a new project by Colonel Red & Hanyo van Oosterom, based in Rotterdam (Netherlands) and London (UK). The music is a mixture of soul, jazz, singer/songwriting and ambient soundscapes. Both composers/producers have mixed roots and influences including Spanish, Scottish, Cuban and Jamaican.
They met during the Numoon Festival in Rotterdam, The Netherlands in December 2005, where festival director Hanyo van Oosterom booked Colonel Red with his acoustic set.
In July 2006 they performed together in Rotterdam during The North Sea Jazz Festival at the Numoon Nightlabs. These sessions for instant composing were a great success. In September 2006 they made their first recordings in a bungalow in the dunes near Noordwijk (The Netherlands).
Four songs were recorded and Rice4all was born. They started composing together at Hanyo's studio in Rotterdam and did some live try-outs at the Numoon Labs and as an opening act for the Crossing Border Festival 2006 in The Hague (The Netherlands).
Since January 2007 they work at the legendary Rocktown Studios in Rotterdam. Here they will finish their debut album No Straight Lines. In the meantime they will keep on developing the live act and do tryouts in various combinations.
